Default Coordinated armor..

While I very much like the look of the various armors in the game, one thing that I'd like to see added would be to have some types of armor that look similar (or at least follow the same styling) among professions. It would be very cool to have a team w/ matching armor, even though they're of different professions...

Because a Warrior wearing robes or a Necromancer wearing chainmail would make so much sense.

^^ at two above posts hi flamezors plz leave this site
really a war in tats is a bad idea but it does not have to be like that
for example all casters could have the same robe whilst the melees could have a hybrid of warrior and ranger armor
so yeah it could work why you would want it i have no clue but it is not a ludicrous idea
i think that the lux/kurz armor does a decent job at making a team look alike

Coordinated does not necessarily mean that they were the same thing; it means they wear things that follow the same style. Also, in real armed forces, whether you're a grunt or a specialist, you generally wear some basic shared pieces.

Regardless, many NPCs that are humans, such as the Corsairs or Kournan troops *do* wear the same armor - whether a warrior/ranger/monk - it's their weapons that give them away. The Kurzick mission where you fight another house also has NPCs wearing the same exact thing regardless of profession.

Also, there is no in-game lore as to why a necro couldn't wear chainmail, and there is warrior armor that is cloth that provides as much protection as full plate. Thus, the material armor is made of seems to be of little consequence.

I think some of you missed the point of the post. He said same "style" style does not mean physical armour type.

Think about the swirling sort of pattern on elementalist monument armour. What if you had that pattern on steel for a warrior, or imprinted on the edge of a monk's garb. To be honest I LIKE the idea.

Because he couldn't have just meant that it'd be stylistically similiar.

I could see warriors in chainmail with an asthetic pattern similiarity to a necromancers usually leather/bone/animal part armor. Something that would say they got the armor in the same place.

Example: All luxon armor uses turtle shells patterned cloth and tattoos or the like on it's armor skins, not just on the rangers and monks.

That's exactly what I mean; there is sunspear armor for virtually all professions, yet it bears almost no resemblance to one-another. You'd think that the same armorsmith would have some similarity between the various suits he creates.

I'm not asking for them to be exact, but there should be a similar theme between sets made by the same armorsmith or of the same armor name.

Wow that really IS an ugly monk...

Now, as far as the OP goes, I think that they were already trying to go for stylistically similar armour. Look at Luxon and Kurzik armour for example. While prophecies armour didn't tend to be too similar, I think they styling got better as the campaigns progressed. I wouldn't want to see too much similar armour, because frankly it would highly hinder the diversity we see in the game, but as far as stylistically similar armour goes, I think that the dev's have already done a great job. If you dressed an entire team with Norn armour, for example, you'd find that they all looked quite similar in 'design.' (i.e. furry). It's simply not that noticeable since we very rarely see an entire team of all different professions wearing the same type or 'style' of armour...

If anything I wrote doesn't make sense I apologise. It's been a long day and I can't be bothered proof reading.

Yeah, cause Gladiator armor is so practical for a warrior too right?

I think you better read this:

http://features.cgsociety.org/story_...?story_id=4338

Its an article on CGsociety for Team Fortress 2. A CLASS BASED FPS.

The reasoning behind the designs are completely applicable to Guild Wars.

Its a good reason why this idea is very BAD.

I think this is a good idea. The sunspear armour has the same sun symbol on all their armour, but there should be more similarities between the sets of armour of different professions made from the same crafter.

i say /signed cause its an option for guilds to do or something, or maybe add a guild armorer that makes armor of a selected style which is simmilar acrossed all profs and have it have your emblem and cape colors, that would be awesome

Well... the White mantle have really matching armors...
But, most other armors do not match so good being died of the same color.

/notsigned, because I think the differences we see now help set professions apart. Necros always look dark and twisted as they should, Ritualists always look sort of alien, Paragons look like Michael Jackson wannabes, etc. Using armor to convey a certain "common" theme pertaining to other aspects of the game will inevitably draw away from that.

Guild Specific armors would rock! Have some different styles, but that are similar/standard across all professions.

Everyone in similar armor would really add a much more organized feel to GvG matches...ooh! IDEA!

What say these guild armors are based on the armors of different npc factions, and the armor set would be chosen by the guild leader (like capes). Also this choice of armor would change the look for the npc's in GvG matches.
example, say your guild went with a "white mantle" style armor, apart from getting the option to get white mantle-style armor for your personal use your guild lord, and gaurd npcs would be white mantle as well.

lol wow I got really offtopic there...I'm gonna stop before I turn this into an entierly different thread
